Wanderful Wednesday

This past weekend I took a road trip down to Long Island with Doug and Smirti. Doug and I spent Friday night going out in Floral Park, meeting up with his friends at a local bar called Fallon's.
I absolutely love Floral Park. Right outside of Queens, it's a cute town where everyone knows everyone. You can walk wherever you need to go, and the center of town has everything--plenty of bars, restaurants, a sweet shop, nail salons, ice cream, deli, etc. It's awesome.

The earlier part of Saturday was spent indulging in one of the best things New York has to offer: Pizza. We ate in Doug's old high school stomping grounds at this tiny italian cafe called Cugini's. Between roasted red pepper thin crust, a chicken pinwheel, buffalo chicken pizza, and a Grandma slice, I'd say we were beyond satisfied. And a bottle of Pepto Bismol later, we were headed off to Long Beach.

This past week, Long Beach was the host to the Roxy Quicksilver surfing competition. The town was packed with spectators, and the place was full of energy. We hung out on the beach all afternoon watching volleyball and relaxing (unfortunately we missed the surfing), then we made our way back to the Candon's for an incredible cookout.

Long Beach is amazing. I wish I could spend summers there every year. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and goes on for miles, the people are ridiculously friendly, and the night life...well, you can see the aftermath of that here:

Oh yeah, and they have a 24 hour bagel shop. Need I say more?

Yeah, maybe that I should hit the gym.

:)
